Lemon Cake (the lost one)
~ grandma Vance's, more or less ~
ingredients
- 1 cup butter, soft
- 2 cups sugar
- 3 eggs
- 3 cups flour
- 1 cup buttermilk
- the zest of 2 lemons
- a long pour of vanilla
The way I do it
- Cream the butter and sugar until it forgets it was ever separate.
- Add the eggs one at a time, then the lemon zest.
- Flour and buttermilk, turn about, just until smooth.
- 350° until the top springs back — start checking at 40 minutes.
- Glaze it while it is still warm so it sinks in.
